Some new girly music

This post is dedicated to my good friend Lauren who refuses to like any female vocalists. She is silly.

To start with today I think its time for a quick word about The Pipettes. I've been listening to the Pipettes since last year sometime, and had decided that they were a nice idea and had a couple of enjoyable songs. I would like to take this opportuntiy to publically admit that I was wrong. Having listened to the album I have realised that whilst they are not a band to be taken too seriously, they do make fantastic, danceable, enjoyable pop music.

I probably shouldn't be posting up the new single but its brilliant and you all need to hear it! It makes me want to dance my little socks off.

You also need to hear It Hurts To See You Dance So Well. Maybe I just like songs about dancing too much but who cares, this is a corker of a song.

Secondly today are The Long Blondes. I don't know very much about these guys except that they are from Sheffield and have some pretty decent songs.

Weekend Without Make-Up is one of their best efforts and something I've been enjoying today.

Lastly today is Gemma Hayes. I was unconvinced by her for a while, and assumed she was just another slightly crap female singer songwriter type who only sold records 'cos she has a pretty face. However I was wrong. It took seeing her at the Scala to start changing my mind, but hearing this cover version really sealed it for me. You may not agree but I think it is beautiful and amazing.

Enjoy, and let me know what you think.
