I discovered Simon Breed after popping into 12 Bar Club on a whim one night. The support that night were shit. I was tired, they annoyed me and I was getting tempted to go home.
Then this guy came on stage. I was transfixed. I can't make it any clearer than saying I think he is fucking amazing. If you ever get the chance to see him live, do it. You won't regret it.
He sounds like some sort of middle aged, middle class, sweary Jeff Buckley. I s'pose that doesn't really sound like high praise, but trust me, it is.
He makes song writing and performing seem so easy, so obvious. Like something you do without even thinking about but still really enjoy it. Maybe like having a big poo.
Admittedly I have a bit of a thing for male singer songwriters, but good ones are hard to come by. This one is clearly very talented, a legend in the making. Definately one to watch.
This is only a short one, but there are plenty more on his website and myspace.
Simon Breed - An Unhappy Fish
There don't seem to be any CD's to buy but if he ever releases one you must buy it!!
